Hmmmmmmmpfffff, Who's this
Some irritating little blond, what's she doing.
Why's she hanging around us

Naaaaaaaa, begone pest.
Xena and me don't need you. We do just fine on our own.
Just because she's blond like me she thinks she can butt in.

Haven't you ever heard two's company and three's a crowd baby.

That's it, a bit closer, yeah that's it, just around the back,
watch out here it comes.

Phwwweeeeeeeetttt.

Xena ! I had her all lined up, what are you doing.
Be nice, why. She's trying to break us up.
No I won't.
No.
Oh well if you put it like that. I'll try, but she's not riding me !
Just because she can write doesn't make her better than me.

Yeah I know she never said it but.......

WHAT I am not jealous.
What do ya mean don't give you that look, I had something in my eye.

OK OK so she's not that bad but by the gods does she ever shut up, it's driving me
crazy
You like talking to her !
You never used to like talking to anyone.

Yeah I know you've changed, and I kinda like it.
So you want her around huh.

Well ok, but just remember who's No.1 horse around here ok.
Alright then, goodnight Xena.

 RUN, ARGO, RUN

by J. L. Raymond

Standing tall in the trees
Your golden mane flowin' in the breeze
You run to me if ever I call
You run to me...'ever I fall

Chorus

Run, Argo, run
Eclipse the moon...block out the sun
You are my friend and will always be
So, run...Argo, run

Courage born from a gentle breed
Your spirit flows like the raging sea
You alone are one with me
Run, Argo...run

Repeat chorus

The Old Horse

By Wishes

Standing in a field of close-cropped grass,
surrounded by a dozen sheep,
the old horse sleeps.
Amid birdsong and gentle breezes,
she dreams of shouts and clashing swords.
Instead of sweet wildflowers, purple and gold,
she smells the copper, sees the red, of just-spilled blood.
Snorting softly, she paws the ground,
remembering the fake, the charge, the turn-around.
She nods gently, as the breeze awakens a memory
of white sand beach as, surf to the off-side,
mountains to the near, she galloped,
she and her rider as one,
both hearts afire with youth and lust for life.
A bird calls. She lifts her head, mistaking the whistle
for that one sound she longs to hear,
a call to days long gone,
a time of travel on roads of dust or mud,
of days and nights spent with two souls
in harmony with one another--and with her:
one woman tall, the other small,
one of touches, one of words.
The One Who Rides, and The One Who Walks Beside.
The old horse drops her head
and dozes as the late day sun
sparks her faded coat to pure gold again,
blazing bright as the courage in her heart.

TALES OF THE ARGOVERSE

by Sally Dye

There’s a lot of talk about Gabrielle

Becoming a warrior and fighting so well,

And it’s not that I grudge her her well-deserved fame;

I just wish sometimes that she’d mention my name

When she writes in her scrolls and does the bard thing

And touts Xena’s exploits with zest and with zing.

Now they’re both quite well-known in this world that we roam

And I travel beside them; the road is our home.

I help all I can to make us successful

And hope what I do isn’t reckless or stressful.

But if I were a bard and could tell my own story

I’d chronicle my part in X and G’s glory.

In "Sins of the Past" I was Xena’s sole friend

I carried her safely ‘cross meadows and fens

Then we met Gabrielle, who became a new ally;

She was too scared to ride me—she thought I was too high.

It took quite a while for her courage to grow;

She’d walk close beside us wherever we’d go.

Then when Xena was dying in "The Greater Good",

Gabrielle dressed in armor and showed that she could

Both ride me and prove that a team we could be

Though the story almost ended in tragedy.

But I knew Xena lived and so I stood firm

And kept her from being torn limb from limb.

In "Intimate Stranger" there was something amiss, though

It took me a while to see it was Callisto.

I tried to warn Gab, but it wasn’t in time

And Callisto—in Xena’s form—committed the crime

Of trying to kill me! But I was too tough.

(Of course, Xena helped with that healing stuff.)

"The Quest" was another time I was confused-

Was Xena dead? Or was it a ruse?

I deduced that Autolycus really was she

Before Gabrielle and the Amazons could see.

I came at "her" whistle and helped her to steal

Her body so she could again become real.

"A Day in the Life" was an interesting ride.

A giant! A warlord! And no place to hide.

I had to put up with a grooming from Hower

And hear him comparing Xena to a flower.

And Gab acted out her favorite scroll

For me, though she never did finish (lol!)

"Been There, Done That" might have been fatal

For me, Gab and Joxer, though Xena was able

To figure out how and why things were so skewed

And fix things by stopping a senseless feud,

Uniting a couple who despaired of tomorrow,

And reversing a spell and dispelling their sorrow.

It looked very dark for us when Persians attacked

And Gab took a poisonous arrow in the back.

I was stunned when they both chose to make a last stand

And told me to run just as far as I can.

I never told Xena, but I didn’t go far

I knew they’d survive, and I was right! Here they are.

One time I was angry and feeling so miffed

That I copied Season Three and started a rift.

I left Xena for apples, I know it sounds strange

But she’d left me forever, out there on the range!

I finally forgave her and came to my senses

We were happy again and mended our fences.

Then along came Revenica, whose habits were gruesome

She would cut horses’ tendons, she didn’t just bruise ‘em!

She tried it on me, and I had to think quick

I stopped her with one very well-placed kick.

This caused a few problems for Xena and her friends

But I still maintain, it was self-defense!

Now we’ve moved along into Season Five

Our adventures keep coming and so I strive

To remember the standards of Seasons past.

(I have a new friend now; I hope he will last.)

So together we’ll march, though our paths be adverse

Through the danger and excitement of the Argoverse!

I HAVE WATCHED.
By ARGO

By Stone

I watch as a young girl follows my friend
I watch as the young girl struggles to keep up
My friend grooms me and mumbles into my ear, all I hear are grumbles
from my
friend as the young girl snores in her sleep
I toss my head and twitch as this young girl tries to scratch and pat my
gleaming
hide
My friend just laughs as this young girl frowns
I watch as this young girl now keeps up, her muscles beginning to show
under
plump young skin
I watch as my friend starts to smile a bit more and mumbles less into my
ear
I watch as bedrolls once separated by the night fire glow warm from a
friendship
within
I listen as my friend grumbles once again as she watches the young girl
depart
Aaaahh the grooming intensifies
The girl returns, they travel together again seldom apart
I let the girl ride up upon my back my friend seems happier now
I watch as a girl breaks my friends heart
I watch as my friends death breaks the girls heart
My own heart aches as I bear her burden upon my back
My friend alive I feel older now
I watch the woman take her place, standing proud, standing tall beside
her friend
Together we travel
Together they love
I watch as a bond for eternity is formed unshakeable
I watch the skin of the woman my friend calls her lover, ripple from
taut muscles
underneath
I feel snow in the air
My breath stops mid way
I freeze......I stand stock still...
My friends are no more
I bow my head I eat no food
I remember my friend the woman, her strength, her loyalty, her changes,
her life...
their life
I stand alone now the tears are my own
Cold night rain pours unnoticed upon my back I care not then about my
fate
I lift my head, I know not how, the lovers return!
I nuzzle my friends hands and toss my head into the woman"s chest
Magnificent she looks!
I watch now with pride as the woman fights at the side of my friend
I laugh at her own horse she thinks she can ride
I am happy now though my hide doesn't gleam
I have watched a young girl grow to become the woman of my only friends
dreams
And I a war horse
Their true friend indeed
